CALGARY, AB -- The Montreal Canadiens are hoping to turn their fortunes around at the expense of the Calgary Flames.
The Canadiens have won just two games in their past eight and are 3-6-1 in their past 10 games. They’ve scored just two goals in their past two games, too, something they’ll hope to rectify against Reto Berra, who will get the start in net as the Flames look for a sixth consecutive victory.
This Season: 29-21-6, 64 points (5th in East)
Last Season: 29-14-5, 63 points (2nd in East)
Notable Injuries: Defenseman Davis Drewiske (shoulder), and forwards Alex Galchenyuk (hand) and Ryan White (upper body) are out.
Flames Season Series Record: 1-0-0
Though he only has one win to show for his recent play, Price has been one of the league’s hottest goaltenders. He’s stopped 103 of 107 shots over his past three starts, a save percentage of .963. Overall, Price is 23-7-5 this season with a 2.42 goals against average and .922 save percentage. He’ll make his 46th start against the Flames.
Though he leads the Canadiens with 37 points this season, Subban hasn’t been producing at his regular clip. The reigning Norris Trophy winner has just one assist in his past five games and has just four points in his last 14 outings. Still, Subban sits sixth in scoring among defencemen.
THREE PLAYERS TO WATCH
Pacioretty, who will represent Team USA at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, has been as productive as any Montreal player this season. His 33 points are tops among all forwards while his 0.70 points-per-game leads all teammates. His 23 goals on the year also places him 14th overall in the NHL.
Weise was acquired from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Raphael Diaz on Monday and is expected to make his Canadiens debut against the Flames. With Vancouver, Weise was involved in the Jan. 18 game and was one of eight players ejected just two seconds into the contest.
With the departure of Diaz, Beaulieu -- selected 17th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft -- will see added responsibility on the Montreal blue line. The former Saint John Sea Dogs standout has three points, all assists, in 19 career games played.
