CALGARY, AB – The Country Hills Golf Club Charity Classic Hosted by the Mavericks with Honourary Chair Cory Sarich is proud to announce the tournament raised over $200,000 for the Flames Foundation for Life and Children’s Link Society.

The charity classic, formally the Rick Tabaracci Golf Classic, teamed up with Flames defenceman Cory Sarich in its first year on June 15th, 2010.
“The Mavericks Chuckwagon Society is very pleased to be involved with Country Hills Golf Club as well as the Calgary Flames in developing one of Calgary’s newest premier charity golf tournaments”, says Ken Malvin, President of the Maverick’s Chuckwagon Group.  “Having Cory involved in the tournament helped strengthen the relationship of all three organizations in trying to achieve a common goal – raising funds for children’s charities.”
The formal announcement and cheque presentation was made at the Calgary Stampede Chuckwagon races on Wednesday, July 14th.
In his first year as tournament chair, Sarich and the sold out tournament with over 270 participants, supported two worthy causes. The charitable arm of the Calgary Flames Hockey Club; the Flames Foundation for Life which directs proceeds to four different areas – Rotary/Flames House; a youth hospice located next to the Children’s Hospital, Rotary/Flames Park – a park at the Ronald McDonald House, REACH! – programs for medical advancement as well as amateur sport programs.
Children's Link Society is a family-centered, community-based, central access point of information for families of children with special needs in Calgary and area. Their goal is to provide information and support links to families, communities, agencies and professionals in Western Canada for children and young adults with special needs.
