Player Spotlight: Five minutes with Tony Amonte

Throughout the 2005-06 regular season will sit down one-on-one with players and have a little fun while finding out a little more about the player on a personal side.

Forward Tony Amonte was signed as a free agent by the Calgary Flames August 2, 2005. Prior to his time with the Flames, Amonte laced up his skates for the New York Rangers, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Philadelphia Flyers. Amonte, originally from Hingham, MA, has played for the United States Olympic team twice, recording a total of 5 points (2g, 3a).

Pick one word to describe yourself?

Amonte: Fun.

If you weren't a hockey player, what would you be doing?

Amonte: Who knows, probably working construction.

It's a Saturday night and you're not playing hockey. What would you be doing?

Amonte: Probably watching hockey, whoever's on.

What's your favourite food?

Amonte: Chinese

What's your favourite Calgary Restaurant?

Amonte: I really haven't really been out much here. There's nothing that really stands out right now.

Who is your favourite band right now?

Amonte: I loved Poison in the 80's.But for now I'll go with my boys, Gold Finger.

What is your favourite television show?

Amonte: Sopranos

What was the first car you owned?

Amonte: A brown '85 Ford Granada. Four door. Nice car. A hand-me down from my brother.

Which pro athlete would you most like to spend time with?

Amonte: My boy JR (Jeremy Roenick). He's always fun to be around.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Amonte: I'd love to go to Brazil, Rio. I've heard it's fun; great beaches and a good party.

You have a few hours to kill. Do you read a book or play a video game?

Amonte: Are you kidding me? Video game. I love James Bond, but my kids are really into NHL and hockey games, but I prefer James Bond and games like that.

Playstation or X-Box?

Amonte: Playstation

Worst job you've ever had?

Amonte: I haven't had many, so it would probably be the only job before I played, which was a landscaper.
