Irving recalled, Karlsson placed on the IR

CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames announced today they have recalled goaltender Leland Irving from Abbotsford of the American Hockey League. Goaltender Henrik Karlsson has been placed on the injured reserve list due to a sprained MCL in his right knee suffered in last night's game against the Vancouver Canucks. He will be evaluated and a further update provided when available.

Irving, a native of Swan Hills, Alberta, has played in 23 games this season posting a 15-7-0 record with 3 shutouts, a 2.30 GAA and a .914 save percentage. His 23 games played, 15 wins and 3 shutouts lead the League in these categories. He was named AHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 20th with a 3-1-0 record, 1.47 GAA and a .948 save percentage including 2 shutouts. In 61 games last season with Abbotsford he earned 30 wins which ranked second in the AHL, his eight shutouts led the league and his .913 save percentage was 10th amongst AHL goalies. Leland was also named as the Abbotsford Heat team MVP for the 2010-11 season.
