Hitmen announce creation of Getzlaf's Gang

by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club along with alumnus Ryan Getzlaf today announced an exciting new partnership called Getzlaf’s Gang.

This program will bring a group of children who would not normally ever get a chance to 20 Hitmen games this season.
Each night will feature a different group of kids as selected by Ryan himself through Kids Up Front.  They will watch a Hitmen game in the Telus Suite with each member receiving a Getzlaf Gang T-Shirt along with an autographed 8 X 10 picture of Ryan Getzlaf.

GETZLAF'S GANG
The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club along with alumnus Ryan Getzlaf today announced an exciting new partnership called Getzlaf’s Gang.

“This in an excellent program that gives me a chance to give back to the fans and city who helped me achieve my goals and dreams of becoming a National Hockey League player,” said Getzlaf.

Kids Up Front partners with over 150 agencies in Calgary and surrounding area. These agencies include children from low income families, new immigrant families, and those with both physical and mental challenges.  Sadly, more than 100,000 children live below the low-income cut-off (or poverty line) in Alberta. This creates many challenges for families.

“By giving children the opportunity to experience entertainment and educational events we help integrate them into the community in a positive way,” said Kids Up Front Executive Director Kari Scarlett.

Getzlaf, who now stars with the Anaheim Ducks, played four seasons with the Hitmen (2001-02 to 2004-05) and appeared in 233 regular season games while collecting 215 points.
