Brandon Hickey and the Boston University Terriers dropped their first round match-up in the NCAA tournament, ending their season on Saturday night.
Boston fell 7-2 to Denver in the opening round of the West Regional at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, MN.
They finish the season with a 21-13-5 record. This season marked the first set of back-to-back NCAA appearances in nine years for the Terriers.
Hickey, the Calgary Flames' third round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, scored five goals and registered eight points in 36 games this year.
The sophomore led all Terriers defencemen in shots on net this season with 84. He was second among all Boston University skaters with 56 blocked shots.
In addition to his time with the Terriers, the Leduc, AB product represented Canada at the 2016 World Junior Championship in Finland. In five games at the tournament, he took one minor penalty and was a minus-one.
