Heat Ready for Game 7

by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames

ROCHESTER NY - Two of the most exciting words in sports...GAME SEVEN.  The Abbotsford Heat will face the Rochester Americans in the seventh and deciding game of their North Division Semi Final on Tuesday night in upstate New York.

On the eve of this winner take all contest, the Abbotsford Heat is ready.  In Game Six, the Heat jumped all over the Americans, scoring three times in the opening eleven minutes and chasing Amerks net minder Tyler Plante to the showers en route to a 5-1 win to even the series.  HEAT forward Jon Rheault paced the Abbotsford attack, notching the first three goal game in Abbotsford Heat post season history.  Veterans Jason Jaffray and David Van der Gulik also factored, scoring goals for the HEAT, while Mikael Backlund posted two assists and Brett Sutter parked three helpers.

David Shantz was once again superb.  While the Heat were outshooting the Americans 41-23, Shantz made quality saves and kept his team in the lead with some great saves on the Americans shooters at key points in the game.  In his past two outings, Shantz has stopped 40 of 42 shots.

Dan Kinvig of the Abbotsford News had a chance to talk to the latest Heat Hero, Jon Rheault. Follow the link below to read his article.
