SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The American Hockey League announced today that Quad City Flames left wing Kyle Greentree has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Mar. 8, 2009.

In four games, Greentree scored four goals and added five assists for nine points.

Greentree scored a goal on a penalty shot and recorded an assist in a 5-2 loss at Peoria on Wednesday, then notched one goal, two assists and a plus-3 rating in a 4-1 win at Rockford at Friday. Greentree recorded two assists in regulation before scoring the overtime game-winner in a 3-2 victory over Iowa on Saturday, and he ran his goal-scoring streak to four games with a power-play marker in Sunday’s 4-3 shootout decision over Milwaukee. Greentree finished with a point on nine of Quad City's 12 non-shootout goals for the week.

In recognition of his achievement, Greentree will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Flames home game.

Greentree currently ranks second in the American Hockey League with 32 goals and is tied for 10th with 61 points in 63 games for Quad City, while also skating in two NHL games with Calgary.

A second-year pro from Victoria, B.C., Greentree had 24 goals and 24 assists in 72 AHL games as a rookie with Philadelphia in 2007-08. Greentree, 25, played three seasons at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and was acquired by the Calgary Flames in a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers on June 30, 2008.
