by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames
Calgary, AB – The second annual Glencross Invitational proudly sponsored by Penn West Energy hit the greens on Tuesday, July 27th, 2010 in benefit of Calgary Crime Stoppers to raise over $100,000.

Flames forward Curtis Glencross and over 140 golfers gathered at Calgary’s Springbank Links Golf Course for the charity event.

The day of golf was preceded with a registration event held at Flames Central on Monday, July 26th where celebrity participants were auctioned off followed by performances by country recording artists Aaron Pritchett and Gord Bamford.
This is the second annual Glencross Invitational in benefit of Calgary Crime Stoppers.

As a spokesperson for the charity and event for the last two seasons Glencross was also involved in the organization’s fundraising gala auctioning off a golf game with him and recording promotional PSA messages. Messages inform viewers how to report a crime anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
All proceeds from the two day event will be directed to Calgary Crime Stoppers. The mandate for this initiative will continue to heighten community awareness, with the focus of engaging youth while educating local/area citizens of three ways (Talk/Text/Type) to submit anonymous tips that pay cash awards for valuable leads on unsolved crimes.
