Flames support Calgary Alzheimer's Pro-Am Hockey Tournament

by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames

CALGARY, AB - The Calgary Alzheimer's Pro-Am Hockey Tournament is returning to Calgary for 2014 with many new faces both from the Alumni and the players side.

This world class event puts together weekend hockey warriors with their heroes from the NHL Alumni in a fun filled weekend focused on raising funds towards Alzheimer’s.

The Alzheimer’s Pro-Am has raised over $4.5 million dollars over the past three years.

All proceeds to date have gone towards furthering the research and awareness of what many believe to be Canada’s future largest epidemic, Alzheimer’s, dementia and related mental illnesses.

All funds are directed to Alzheimer’s Care and Research through the Flames Foundation for Life.

The weekend kicks off with a luncheon on Friday, April 4th, followed by the draft night and a 2 day tournament at Winsport on April 5th and 6th.

This charity event pairs local amateur hockey players with NHL Alumni as they drop the puck in the battle against Azheimer’s and other related dementias.

Donations can be made to individual players or teams, as each team is required to raise a minimum of $25,000. General donations can also be made by following the link listed below.
