CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames Hockey Club announced today that they have signed goaltender Laurent Brossoit from the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League to an entry level contract.
Laurent Brossoit, a native of Surrey, BC, was the Calgary Flames 6th round pick (164th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and is in his third season with the Edmonton Oil Kings. He finished the regular season third in goals against average (2.25), sixth in save percentage (.917%) and seventh in WHL wins (33) and shutouts (5).
Laurent Brossoit was named as the CHL Goaltender of the Week on April 2nd after posting a 4-1-0-0 record with two shutouts along with a goals-against-average of 0.76 and save percentage of .968 in the opening round of the WHL Eastern Conference playoff series that saw the Oil Kings beat the Kootenay Ice four games to one. Last season, Brossoit guided the Oil Kings to a WHL Championship and a berth into the Memorial Cup.
Contract terms: Three year entry level contract at $566,700 per season with an average annual value of $925,000.
