Flames select Matthew Phillips with 166th overall pick

BUFFALO, NY -- With the 166th overall selection in the 2016 NHL Draft, the Calgary Flames have selected forward Matthew Phillips from the Victoria Royals (WHL).

After scoring 37 goals and registering 76 points in 72 regular season games, Phillips was named the WHL's Rookie of the Year. Prior to joining the WHL, Phillips played for the Calgary Buffaloes Midget AAA in the Alberta Midget Hockey League and scored 33 goals and 73 points in 34 games in 2014-15.
