Flames select five players at 2015 NHL Draft

SUNRISE, FL – The Calgary Flames selected five players (two forwards and three defencemen) at the 2015 NHL Draft in Sunrise, Florida during the seven round selection process.

The Flames started their draft weekend by trading their first three picks (15th, 45th and 52nd overall) for Boston Bruins defenceman Dougie Hamilton.

Following the trade, Calgary did not have a pick until the second round when they selected Swedish defenceman Rasmus Andersson with the 53rd overall pick before trading their two third round picks (76 & 83) to the Arizona Coyotes for the 60th overall selection when they drafted fellow Swede defenceman Oliver Kylington.

The Flames did not pick again until the fifth round when they took Pavel Karnaukhov, a left wing who will be familiar to Calgarians as he played for the WHL’s Hitmen. Calgary finished their 2015 NHL Draft by selecting two OHL players, left wing Andrew Mangiapane from Barrie and defenceman Riley Bruce from North Bay.
