Flames prospect named CHL player of the week

TORONTO (CP) - Daniel Ryder was named the Canadian Hockey League's player of the week on Tuesday after recording 11 points in two games for the Peterborough Petes.

The brother of Montreal Canadiens forward Michael Ryder led the Petes to two victories and is currently tied for first place in OHL scoring with 13 points.

Ryder, who also earned the OHL's player of the week award, had two goals and four assists in Peterborough's 7-2 win over the Oshawa Generals before scoring four times and adding an assist in a 5-1 win over the Ottawa 67's.

Brett Robertson of the WHL's Prince George Cougars and Charles-Antoine Messier of the QMJHL's Baie-Comeau Drakkar were also considered.
