Flames' 2016 NHL Draft selection update

by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames

CALGARY, AB --
The Calgary Flames currently hold eight selections in the 2016 NHL Draft, to be held from June 24–25, 2016 at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York.

Calgary acquired an additional second round pick from the Florida Panthers on Feb. 27 in a deal that sent forward Jiri Hudler the other way. The Flames also received a fourth round selection in the 2018 NHL Draft.

Another 2016 pick was gained in a trade with the Nashville Predators on July 1, 2015 that sent Max Reinhart, originally draft by the Flames in the third round of the 2010 NHL Draft, to the Preds in exchange for Nashville's fourth round selection.

The Flames dealt their 2016 seventh round selection when they acquired Freddie Hamilton from the Colorado Avalanche on Oct. 4, 2015. Hamilton is currently playing for the Stockton Heat of the AHL, where he has collected 15 goals and 33 points in 46 games this season.

All other remaining selections have been retained by the Flames.
