CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames will have another representative at the 2014 IIHF Men's World Championship as Sven Baertschi has been named to the Swiss national team.
Swiss Hockey News released the final roster on May 4.
Baertschi and the Abbotsford Heat's season came to a close on Friday when they fell to the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL Western Conference quarter-finals. The 21-year-old wrapped up the postseason with one assist in four games.
The winger suited up for 41 regular season games with the Heat this year, scoring 13 goals and 29 points. He dressed for 26 games with the Flames in the first half of the season, notching two goals and 11 points in that span.
Sean Monahan (Canada), Johnny Gaudreau (USA), Jiri Hudler (Czech Republic), and Mikael Backlund (Sweden) will play in the tournament for their respective countries. While no official announcement has been made, Karri Ramo stated during his exit interview that there was a chance he would play for Finland.
