NHL.TV Desktop Compatibility

NHL.TV™ runs in most current Internet browsers and operating systems.

Supported Windows Browsers:

Internet Explorer 11, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Chrome (We recommend the most current versions).

Supported Windows Operating Systems:

Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7

Note: If your computer is more than approximately three (3) years old, then you may experience technical difficulties when attempting to use NHL.TV™.

We recommend turning off any ad block or pop up blocking browser extensions in your browser as they may interfere with video playback.

Adobe Flash Player

The NHL.TV™ Media Player is built on the Adobe Flash Player.

For better performance we recommend using the most current version Adobe Flash Player.

Desktop Troubleshooting

  1. Verify your available local network bandwidth here.
  2. Verify you have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed. You can download the latest version here.
  3. Close any sites or programs that are running on your computer or network, as these may slow down your Internet connection.
  4. Close out your web browser and re-launch.
  5. If you are still having problems, as a test, try viewing the games in a different browser.
  6. Clear your browsers web cache, close your browser, and re-launch.
  7. Restart your computer.

  4. Close any sites or programs that are running on your computer or network, as these may slow down your Internet connection.
  5. If no other programs or sites are running and your connection is slow, power cycle your modem and/or router. To do this, unplug your modem, as well as any wired or wireless router you are using, for about 10 seconds. Then re-plug the device(s). Wait a few minutes as your Internet connection resets and then try to view the game again.
  6. Finally, if you are still having problems and/or the media player itself is reacting slowly, check to make sure your computer is compatible with the NHL.TV™ System Requirements.

If you are seeing this message, it means that your NHL.TV™ account is being used to access in multiple locations.

You can prevent this from happening by sigining into your NHL.com account and updating your NHL.TV™ account password.

A VPN Connection and/or using a Proxy server may interfere with NHL.TV™.

If you are using a VPN Connection or Proxy and are having problems with NHL.TV™, disable it and try to access the game again.

NHL.TV™ live and archived content is subject to blackout restrictions and relies on location data provided by your ISP for verification.

The following factors may affect successful blackout verification: Location services are not enabled on the device, GPS satellites are not visible due to being indoors/away from windows; a cellular data or Wi-Fi hotspot, satellite, hotel or corporate/VPN internet connection is being used; You are attempting to access while traveling in motion (plane, train or automobile).

How to Cast using a Chrome Browser

Chromecast Steps for NHL.TV™ Media player

  1. Ensure your computer and your chromecast receiver are on the same network.
  2. Launch your up-to-date Chrome browser.
  3. Load a game on nhl.com/tv
  4. The Chromecast button will appear between the game timecode button and views buttons at the bottom of the NHL.TV™ Media player.
  5. Once the chromecast receiver app has finished loading and media begins playing, the browser will show a casting slate over the player with matchup information.

  • Playback of Live/Archive video.
  • Full DVR controls of On Demand games only.
  • Closed Captions supported for Live/Archive.
