Youth Hockey Skills to be Showcased at Anaheim Ducks Mini 1-on-1 Tournament

The Ducks announced today that the club will hold its fourth annual Mini 1-on-1 Tournament presented by Hockey Giant at four local area rinks throughout October and November. Over 200 local youth hockey players are expected to showcase their breakaway skills in four participating age groups. The three-round tournament will feature the top two shooters and goalies from each age group in a final round during the first intermission at an upcoming Ducks game at Honda Center. Top prizes include an all-expense paid trip to the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic in Ann Arbor, Michigan, as well as tickets to the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series contest between the Ducks and Kings on Jan. 25, 2014 at Honda Center.

Boys and girls from four different age groups (High School, Pee Wee, Squirt and Mite levels) are invited to participate in the competition. Qualifying rounds will be held Saturday, Oct. 19 at THE RINKS – Yorba Linda ICE presented by Honda, Saturday, Oct. 26 at THE RINKS – Anaheim ICE, Saturday, Nov. 2 at THE RINKS – Lakewood ICE and Saturday, Nov. 9 at San Diego Ice Arena. Youth players can either compete as a shooter or goaltender, with one of each taking the top prize in each age group. For those who advance, the semifinal rounds will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 12 (Pee Wee and High School) and Tuesday, Nov. 19 (Mite and Squirt) at Honda Center. The final round for each division will take place at a different Ducks home contest throughout late November into early January. Please visit www.DucksGoal.com for a complete schedule.

For an entry fee of $30, each participant will have the chance to test his or her skills against local competitors for an opportunity to become the top shooter and top goalie in California. In addition, every participant will receive a Mini 1-on-1 Under Armour long-sleeve moisture control shirt, a ticket to a future Anaheim Ducks game and a 15% discount coupon to Hockey Giant Anaheim. The High School division winners (one goalie, one shooter) will receive a pair of tickets to the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series contest on Jan. 25 at Dodger Stadium, while the Pee Wee and Mite winners will be presented the opportunity to face-off against Ducks players in a shootout competition during an upcoming team practice. In addition, Squirt division winners attend the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic as the top prize.
