The 2nd Annual Anaheim Ducks S.C.O.R.E. Street Hockey Shootout took place last month, as fourth-graders from 16 of Orange County’s premier schools battled in street hockey in the Honda Center parking lot.

Friends Christian took home the coveted Ducks S.C.O.R.E. Cup for the second straight year with an 11-8 win over St. Francis of Assisi. Along with winning the Cup, players from Friends Christian will be brought to an Anaheim Ducks home game next season, in which they will be presented trophies on-ice by Ducks Management. With 22 goals over the course of the tournament, Friends Christian forward Grady O’Bryan won the MVP award.

Over 1,000 people were in attendance to cheer on their respective schools. Friends, family and classmates were dressed in school colors and went as far as creating posters to cheer on their schools. One school brought along a set of cheerleaders to help support their team. Chaparral Elementary won the inaugural “School Spirit” award, given to the school that is the most creative in school spirit.  Chaparral will receive a framed, Anaheim Ducks autographed hockey stick to hang in their school.

Along with the tournament their were numerous things for attendees to do at the event; inflatable games, raffles, prizes, food and even a few special guests were at the event. Kai Kalama, season 8 American Idol contestant, sang the National Anthem to kick off the event. Anaheim Ducks players Brian Salcido, Petteri Wirtanen, Brett Festerling, and Troy Bodie acted as special guest coaches for the championship game. Ducks TV personality, Kent French, hosted the event.
