On tonight’s game
We had to step up. We fell behind the eight ball, but if we keep playing the way we did in the second half of tonight’s game, there will be a lot of good things to come. It wasn’t a pretty first half of the game. They got a couple of bounces, but they worked for it. We worked for what we got for the rest of the game.

On he and Ryan Getzlaf taking control in the third period
Our job is to be leaders. We haven’t done that the last couple of games. Tonight, in the third period especially, we took over the hockey game. We played the way we wanted to play.

Ryan Getzlaf
On tonight's game
I had three chances to score in the first period, and I didn’t score. That’s just the way things are going right now. We just tried to stay with it. Finally in the third period, we came on with a push and got a few bounces. Those are the things that haven’t really been going our way.

On if this was a carryover from the Chicago game
I go back to the same thing – and I don’t want to give ourselves excuses – but there are some bounces. The first goal goes right off my foot to their guy. It’s not from a lack of effort or trying. We’re trying to work and the puck just seems to end up in our net.

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau
On splitting up Getzlaf and Perry
We weren’t getting many goals, so I was trying to get a couple of lines that could go offensively. I wanted to send a little bit of a message. When we got down 5-1, that wasn’t working, so I put them back together. I kept them off the power play and then they went on for the next shift and scored a goal. They got mad and showed the passion that they play with when they’re good players.

On tonight’s game
They were trying to do a lot of things right, but they were running into each other. Things weren’t going right. The first one was a bad carom and the second one was a bad shorthanded goal. Once they got down, they were getting frustrated. When they get mad, they get back in the game. Good things usually happen.
