On tonight’s game
We really needed that. It definitely gave us some confidence with the win last night. We knew it was going to be a tough building to play in. We played a really solid road game. I was definitely excited to get the two points.
On starting on consecutive nights
It’s definitely easier coming off a good game and finding your way right into it. I thought early on I had a few shots, so it was nice to be right into the game again. Everybody battled hard, guys were blocking shots. That’s what’s needed to win.
On if fatigue started to set in
I’m definitely happy if I get to sit on the plane and be at home so I can put my legs up. If things go well, it’s always easier to push. We’ll definitely take that day off tomorrow.
On the team’s victories on consecutive nights
They were two emotional games and they were gutsy efforts. You look at last night and it was a 1-0 overtime victory. There was a lot of emotion spent in that game, and the travel, getting in late, and an early game today. The guys really pulled together.
On if he knew tonight was his 600th career game
I knew I was getting close, but I didn’t know exactly where I was. You look at it at the odd time, to see where you are and how you’re doing, and stuff like that. We’ve been playing a lot of hockey lately, so it’s been kind of blending together.
On the resiliency of the team
Guys in that dressing room have a lot of character and they want to play every night. We have a team where guys are battling for jobs. We have some injuries and guys are stepping up and playing a lot of big minutes. It’s a nice feeling knowing that the young guys can step in right away.
On remaining at the top of the league standings
It’s a great feeling. This is where we want to be and this is what we’ve worked hard for. We took last year in stride and we kind of brought the same mentality into this year, and it’s been working for us.
On battling Ryan Getzlaf for the team lead in goals
He said something on the way off the ice tonight. It was funny. Those are things we can joke about if we’re winning and things are going well.
