Postgame Notes and Quotes: December 7 at St. Louis

by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks

Anaheim 5 at St. Louis 2
Dec. 7, 2013
Scottrade Center
20-7-5, 45 Standings Points

Since the start of the 2008-09 NHL season (six NHL campaigns) there have only been four instances where a team beat the Blackhawks and Blues in consecutive road games (in either order). Two of those four have been by the Ducks. The four instances since 2008:
Ducks - (last two nights)
Kings - Mar 25 & 28, 2013
Ducks - Feb 9 & 12, 2013
Stars - Jan 2 & 5, 2011

The Ducks are now tied for the league-lead in points (20-7-5, 45 points) with Chicago. They are 2-0-2 in their last four games - coming against SJ/LA/CHI/STL. Those four teams are a combined 76-24-17 (LA currently playing).

Nick Bonino
On the team’s last four games

We played four of the best teams and came out with six points. I think right now everybody is pretty happy. I can’t wait to get into the locker room.

On the penalty kill
It’s been great lately. Everyone is buying in, blocking shots and getting pucks out and doing the little things. If we continue that, hopefully they’ll keep coming.

Frederik Andersen
On his success thus far

Me and Rolly [Ducks goaltending consultant Dwayne Roloson] have been working hard in practice getting ready for games. I think that’s some of his credit, too. You want to work really hard in practice and be ready.

On his teammates giving him confidence
It’s really fun playing on a team this good, and it’s a big part of the success I’m having, too. It’s the guys in the room. It’s really fun winning.

Head coach Bruce Boudreau
On the road trip

We’ve just gone through four very good teams without losing in regulation. I think it’ll do worlds of good for the confidence of our players.

On the games against the Blackhawks and Blues
We got a chance to watch St. Louis last week when they played L.A. and San Jose. With Chicago, I’ve just watched them an awful lot, and I know [Blackhawks head coach] Joel [Quenneville] really well. And you can’t help but get up for the Stanley Cup Champions. I don’t know if it was an advantage, but we sure were motivated to play well.

On the BluesThey crashed the net so well. It’s a consistent thing. It’s just not one line. They got the first goal right from in front of the net. One of the few breakdowns I thought we had in the game. And then the second one was a clear that just hit [Patrik] Berglund, and he was in the clear. I thought we were in good control for most of the game. Even though the play was in our zone I thought we were in good control of the game.

On having already played 20 games on the road
It’s always great to be at home. Our fans are really rabid and they’re great. We’re looking forward to playing for them. We got three games [at home] this week. Hopefully they’re in droves and we can’t wait to get home.
