Ducks right wing George Parros
made a special appearance at Oggi’s Pizza & Brewing Company in Hungtington Beach on Thursday in honor of the restaurant’s 20th anniversary.
Fans were invited to join the festivities to meet Parros, participate in a pizza-eating contest and help fundraise for the Anaheim Ducks Foundation. Members of the Huntington Beach and Anaheim Fire Departments were also on hand to participate in a special serving competition with Parros.
"These are all good folks and we're all working hard raising money for a good cause," Parros said. "I live in Southern California and I've adopted it as a home, so I'm happy to make myself available for events like this. If my presence can enhance things, I'm happy to help."
With Parros’ assistance, the group that generated the most points through the sale of appetizers, entrees and desserts won tickets to an upcoming Ducks game for a charity of choice. Oggi’s Pizza also generously donated 15% of food/beverage sales to the Anaheim Ducks Foundation. Fans were also able to enter in a pizza-eating contest, hosted by the Anaheim Ducks Street Team, with the winning contestant receiving four tickets to the Ducks’ home opener vs. San Jose on Oct. 14 and an Oggi’s Pizza prize pack.
The mission of the Anaheim Ducks Foundation is to facilitate and support programs that produce positive change for children and families throughout Southern California by providing educational opportunities, broadening access to the sport of hockey and addressing health and wellness needs of our community.
The Oggi’s Pizza & Brewing Company franchise began in San Diego, California with the first store opening in Del Mar in 1991. Since that time, Oggi’s has expanded to 17 locations in Southern California and Arizona.
