No Surgery for Getzlaf; Out 4-6 Weeks

by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks
Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf had another exam on his nasal sinus fractures yesterday, in which it was learned all the breaks remain stable and surgery will not be required.

Getzlaf can return to action once the bones have healed, which is expected to be approximately 4-6 weeks from the date of the injury (Dec. 28 at Phoenix).

At 4:38 of the second period of that game, Getzlaf was struck by a shot off the stick of Coyotes forward Shane Doan, which glanced off the stick of Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler and caught Getzlaf just under the helmet.

The 25-year-old has played in all 40 games for the Ducks this season and is second on the team in scoring with 37 points (13 goals, 24 assists).

Getzlaf spoke to media about the injury Wednesday morning
