Kurri Statement on Selanne Becoming NHL All-Time Top Scorer from Finland

Teemu Selanne recorded his 1,399th point tonight at Colorado, becoming the NHL’s all-time top scorer from Finland (Jari Kurri, 1,398). Selanne now ranks 19th in career scoring in NHL history, third among all European-born players. The only other European-born players with more points are Jaromir Jagr (born in Kladno, Czech Republic, 1,645 points) and Stan Mikita (born in Sokolce, Slovakia and raised in Canada, 1,467 points).

A native of Helsinki, Finland, Kurri scored 1,398 points in his NHL career with Edmonton, Los Angeles, the NY Rangers, Anaheim and Colorado. He won five Stanley Cups with the Oilers.
