Several Anaheim Ducks players will lace up their skates for the 9th annual Fedorin Cup - the charity exhibition hockey game put on by the Athletic Sports Fund of America - on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Anaheim Ice.
The ASFA will donate a portion of the proceeds from the matchup between "Team Canada" and "Team USA" to NHL Hockey Fights Cancer and offer grants to athletes in need. The Fedorin Cup was established in 1998 when Eric Fedorin, a 36 year-old local California hockey player was diagnosed with brain cancer.
Among the Ducks and former Ducks scheduled to appear are Teemu Selanne, Todd Marchant and newly acquired Travis Green. Former Ducks Vitaly Vishnevski and Jeff Friesen and Noah Clark of the Los Angeles Kings are also expected to be present.
Along with the game, the day-long event will also include live and silent auction items, a post-game VIP party with VIP live auction and casino-style gaming, an opportunity drawing and celebrity appearances. The ASFA Golf tournament will be held the day before, Aug. 25 at Anaheim Hills Golf Club.
Other Ducks representatives will be at the Fedorin Cup, offering information on the upcoming season, including ticket sales for the Ducks' 41 home games. Phil Hulett, the Anaheim Ducks PA announcer, will announce the game for the fifth straight year and MC the VIP Post-Game dinner/Casino Night. Wild Wing is also expected to appear.
Tickets for the event are still available: $10 for adults, $5 for teens 13-17 and FREE for children 12 and under. There are VIP and Event sponsorships and a few GOLF packages still available.
