Ducks to Host 'Corey Perry Night' on October 16

by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks will host “Corey Perry Night” on Sunday, Oct. 16 at Honda Center in celebration of the right winger’s Hart Memorial Trophy win as the league’s Most Valuable Player for the 2010-11 season.

As part of the night’s events, fans will receive a commemorative Corey Perry MVP poster, presented by Honda, and a commemorative puck.

Both the Hart Memorial Trophy and the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy (awarded to the league’s top goal scorer) will travel to Honda Center. Fans will have the opportunity to take photos with both trophies from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Northeast corner of Honda Center in the “Hockey Spot.” At 4:30, the trophies will move inside Honda Center for a special on-ice ceremony honoring Perry.

Exclusive Corey Perry MVP merchandise will be available at the Anaheim Ducks Team Store throughout the evening.

“This is a well-deserved night of recognition for Corey,” said Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray. “His outstanding season is worthy of a special evening that fans can be part of.”

Perry, 26 (5/16/85), became the first player from a Southern California team to win the Hart Trophy since Hall-of-Famer Wayne Gretzky earned the honor with Los Angeles in 1989. Perry is also just the third player from a California team to win the Hart, joining Gretzky and San Jose’s Joe Thornton (2006). He scored 50-48=98 points with a +9 rating and 104 penalty minutes in 82 games for the Ducks last season, setting career highs in goals, points and shorthanded goals (4). Perry led the NHL in goal scoring with 50, co-led with 11 game-winning goals while also leading in third-period tallies (21) and road goals (28). He finished the season ranked third among NHL leaders in scoring and tied for fifth in power play goals (14) and shorthanded goals.
