The Ducks will host the 9th annual Give Blood Play Hockey Charity Tournament at THE RINKS – Irvine Inline from Oct. 22 – Oct. 25. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC Children’s).
Mobile blood units will be onsite for individuals who wish to donate blood during the tournament, which had 101 teams battling in 18 different divisions last season at Irvine Inline. To date, the Give Blood Play Hockey tournament has collected 1,673 pints of blood and donated more than $500,000 to CHOC Children’s. The tournament currently has a goal to raise enough donations to break the $600,000 mark and collect 2,000 pints of blood.
Tournament divisions range from youth to adult and are split between various skill levels from beginner through advanced. The tournament also offers a Pro division for the highest level of players as well as a Women’s division. The event is open to the general public, which is encouraged to take an active role in donating blood during the four-day tournament. The Anaheim Ducks Street Team, Wild Wing and the Anaheim Ducks Power Players will also be on hand throughout the weekend to participate in the festivities.
