by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has sent right wing Dustin Penner to the Portland Pirates, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Penner, 23 (9/28/82), has appeared in six games this season with Anaheim, earning 2-2=4 points with four penalty minutes. The 6-4, 245-pound winger recorded his first NHL goal and tied a franchise rookie record with a 2-1=3 points performance on November 30 vs. PHX. Penner played in 16 games with Portland prior to his November 23 recall, scoring 11-9=20 points. He continues to lead the Pirates in goals and points despite missing the last nine games while with Anaheim.

Penner began the season with Anaheim, but did not appear in a game before being reassigned to Portland on Oct. 10. A native of Winkler, Manitoba, Penner was signed as a free agent on May 12, 2004.
