The Ducks selected right wing Nick Sorensen with the 45th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The draft continues today with Anaheim holding selections in the third round (87th overall), fifth round (147th overall) and sixth round (177th overall).
"I felt very good after meeting with Anaheim," Sorensen said, shortly after being drafted by the Ducks. "It was the team I really wanted to go to. I couldn't be happier.
"The Ducks have so many good players. Perry and Getzlaf obviously. I'm really happy also because [Hampus] Lindholm and [Rickard] Rakell are good friends of mine. I was really hoping it was Anaheim, a great situation for me."
Sorensen finished eighth among QMJHL rookie scoring leaders, with 47 points (20g/27a) in 46 games during the 2012-13 season. On the Quebec Ramparts, Sorensen finished the season ranked fifth in team scoring and finished the year with a +10 rating and six power-play goals.
