The Ducks have recalled defenseman Shea Theodore
from the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Theodore, 20 (8/3/95), collected 1-7=8 points with a +4 rating and eight penalty minutes (PIM) in 13 games with San Diego this season. At the time of his recall, Theodore ranked tied for fifth among AHL rookie defensemen in scoring and tied for fourth in assists. The 6-2, 195-pound blueliner was also third among Gulls leaders in assists and tied for fifth in scoring. Theodore has appeared in 26 career AHL games with San Diego and Norfolk, scoring 5-14=19 points with 10 PIM. He has yet to make his NHL debut.
Selected by Anaheim in the first round (26th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Theodore was named the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Defenseman of the Year in 2014-15. He concluded his WHL career as Seattle’s all-time leader in goals (58) and points (212) by a defenseman. Theodore also won gold with Team Canada at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship in Toronto and Montreal, scoring 1-1=2 points with a +12 rating in seven tournament games.
