The Ducks announced today that center Aaron Gavey has been reassigned to the Portland Pirates, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Gavey, 31 (2/22/74), has played five games with Anaheim in 2005-06, going scoreless. In six games with Portland this season, he’s earned 3-0=3 points with 10 penalty minutes. The Sudbury, Ontario, native has appeared in 360 career NHL games with Anaheim, Toronto, Minnesota, Dallas, Calgary and Tampa Bay, posting 41-50=91 points with 272 PIM. Additionally, he has appeared in 19 career NHL playoff games, earning 1-2=3 points.
The 6-2, 189-pound forward was originally drafted by Tampa Bay in the fourth round (74th overall) of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. Gavey earned NHL career highs in goals, assists and points in 2000-2001 as a member of Minnesota’s inaugural team, earning 10-14=24 points in 75 games.
