The Ducks have reassigned left wing Max Friberg
to the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Friberg, 23 (11/20/92), was recalled from San Diego on Dec. 20 but did not appear in last night’s game against the New York Islanders. Selected by the Ducks in the fifth round (143rd overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft, Friberg has gone scoreless with two penalty minutes (PIM) in six career NHL games with the Ducks. He made his Anaheim season debut on Nov. 4 in a 3-2 shootout victory over the Florida Panthers at Honda Center, a day after his original recall from the Gulls.
A native of Skovde, Sweden, Friberg has collected 5-10=15 points with two PIM in 20 games with the Gulls this season. The 5-11, 200-pound winger returns to San Diego ranked tied for fourth among team leaders in scoring and assists. In 158 career AHL games with San Diego (2015-16) and Norfolk (2012-15), Friberg has scored 38-58=96 points with 103 PIM. He has also appeared in 10 career Calder Cup Playoff games, collecting 3-2=5 points with two PIM.
