HOME COOKIN': The Ducks have an active eight-game home winning streak, which marks the most consecutive home wins to start a season in franchise history...the Ducks are also the only NHL club with a perfect home record this season...Anaheim is the first team to go 8-0-0 at home to start a season since 2010-11 (Los Angeles, also 8-0-0)...at HOME, Anaheim has outscored the opposition, 35-13 (excluding one shootout goal), at Honda Center, resulting in the team's longest home win streak since a 13-gamer from Jan. 26-Mar. 20, 2013...the Ducks' 35 goals are the most through eight games in club history, while their 13 goals allowed are also the fewest to start an Anaheim home season ever.
ANDERSEN SECOND STAR: Rookie goaltender Frederik Andersen was named the NHL's Second Star of the Week for Nov. 4-10 after going 3-0-0 with a 1.33 GAA and .958 SV%...in his first 6 career NHL contests, Andersen has gone 6-0-0 with a 1.41 GAA and .952 SV%...he became the first goalie to win his first 6 NHL games since December, 1993 (Toronto's Damian Rhodes from 3/22/91-12/2/93) and is the only ACTIVE goalie to do so...Andersen is also the first netminder in club history to win his first six NHL games (Viktor Fasth won his first eight DECISIONS last year)...among all NHL goalies, Andersen ranks second in SV% and third in GAA...among rookies, he leads in wins, GAA, SV% and appearances (min. 4 games).
LEADING THE WAY: Captain Ryan Getzlaf scored his first career hat trick (3-1=4) on Nov. 8 vs. BUF...he became the fifth player in club history to score three in a single period and it marked just the second time it happened in the FIRST period (Selanne, 11/10/97 vs. SJ)...it also marked the fifth time a Ducks player had four points in a single period (last: Selanne, 3/29/07 vs. CBJ, third period)...Getzlaf, who missed the last game with an upper body injury, has 7-6=13 points with a +10 rating in his last eight games and 10-11=21 with a +14 over his last 15...he co-leads the NHL (with Perry) with four GWG and his on pace for 45 goals this season, which would shatter his previous best of 25...Getzlaf's team-leading 10-12=22 points rank third in the NHL (also tied for seventh in goals).
PENNER ON TOP AND TEAM AMONG LEAGUE'S BEST IN PLUS/MINUS RATINGS: Five of the top nine plus/minus ratings this season belong to Anaheim Ducks players, including league-leader Dustin Penner...his +18 rating through his first 12 games is the highest by any NHL player since four players in 1984-85 were a +12 or better (Wayne Gretzky (EDM), +28; Jari Kurri (EDM), +28; Mike Bossy (NYI), +19 and Mike Krushelnyski (EDM), +19)...Penner, who had a four-point night on Nov. 8 vs. Buffalo (1-3=4, +3), has points in five of the last six games 1-7=8) and has helped the Ducks to an 11-0-1 record when he has been in the lineup...Francois Beauchemin ranks second in the NHL with a +17 rating...rookie Hampus Lindholm is fourth in the NHL in plus/minus (+15), the highest rating by any NHL defenseman in his first 17 career games since Andrej Meszaros (OTT) was a +17 in 2005-06...no other NHL rookie currently has a higher rating than a +7...Corey Perry ranks fifth in the NHL (+14) while Ryan Getzlaf is tied for seventh (+12).
WHEN IT COUNTS: Since the start of the 2010-11 season, Corey Perry has scored 26 game-winning goals, leading the NHL in that span (TB’s Stamkos has 24)...Perry has points in five straight games (5-3=8) and has recorded 6-6=12 points with a +11 rating in his last nine games, and is now tied for fourth among league leaders in goals (also tied for fourth in points)...in addition, his four GWG this season co-lead the NHL (with Getzlaf).
ONE FINAL YEAR: The NHL's oldest active player and oldest to ever compete in a Ducks uniform at 43 years and 92 days at the start of 2013-14, Teemu Selanne ranks 11th among all-time leaders in goals (8 behind Jagr), 40th in all-time assists (2 behind Federko), 15th in all-time scoring (30 behind Mikita), third in all-time PPG (13 behind Br. Hull) and sixth in all-time GWG (1 behind Shanahan)...Selanne appeared in his 1,400th NHL game on Friday vs. Buffalo and joined Nicklas Lidstrom and Jaromir Jagr as the only European-born NHL players to reach the 1,400-game plateau (33rd in NHL history)...he is in the midst of his 22nd NHL season and 15th in an Anaheim uniform...Selanne is the franchise's all-time leader in scoring (968), goals (451), assists (517), games (916), plus/minus (+113), PPG (111), PPP (404), GWG (75), shots (2,888) and overtime goals (6).
