Ducks Acquire Third-Round Pick from Islanders for Wisniewski

by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks have acquired a third-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft from the New York Islanders in exchange for defenseman James Wisniewski. Earlier today, Wisniewski signed a one-year contract through the 2010-11 NHL season. Per club policy, no terms of the deal were disclosed.

Wisniewski, 26 (2/21/84), appeared in 69 games for the Ducks last season, collecting 3-27=30 points with 56 penalty minutes (PIM). Acquired from Chicago with Petri Kontiola in exchange for Samuel Pahlsson, Logan Stephenson and a conditional selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft on Mar. 4, 2009, Wisniewski has played five NHL seasons with the Ducks and Blackhawks. In 254 career NHL games, the 5-11, 205-pound blueliner has scored 17-80=97 points with a +19 rating and 264 PIM.
