The Ducks announced today that in celebration of USA Hockey’s Hockey Weekend Across America
presented by CCM, the National Hockey League (NHL) club will host “Try Hockey for Free Day”
this Saturday, Feb. 16 at THE RINKS – Westminster ICE
presented by Honda. Children ages 4-9
can register for this special supervised on-ice session, receiving instruction on hockey and skating basics. The program will take place from 2:10-3:10 p.m
Hockey Weekend Across America (Feb. 15-17) was created by USA Hockey in 2008 to engage the hockey community in celebrating the sport of hockey at all levels and exposing the sport to new audiences. As part of “Try Hockey for Free Day,” each participant will be provided with skates, shoulder and elbow pads, shin guards, a helmet, hockey pants, gloves and a jersey for the one-hour session. Also coinciding with Hockey Weekend Across America, the Ducks are hosting the third annual Throw-Back Classic Adult Hockey Tournament this Friday through Monday (Feb. 15-18) at THE RINKS – Anaheim ICE and THE RINKS – Westminster ICE. The four-day tournament will include three divisions, including a grand-prize game for each divisional winner against the Anaheim Ducks All-Star Alumni squad. Hockey Weekend Across America will also include NBC’s “Hockey Day in America” coverage on Sunday, Feb. 17, which includes a double-header on NBC (Buffalo at Pittsburgh & Los Angeles at Chicago) and coverage of a third NHL game that evening on NBC Sports Network (Washington at NY Rangers).
