In just two weeks time, the 2010 Olympic hockey tournaments begin. From February 13th through the 28th, there will be 50 opening face-offs in Vancouver. 50 games of men’s and women’s hockey in Canada Hockey Place (nee GM Place) and Thunderbird Arena. 50 games of men and women leaving it all out on the ice, not for a big contract, not for money, not for the Stanley Cup. It’s all about pride and patriotism, wearing their hearts – and countries– on their sleeves. There’s sure to be some instant classics, and Devils Olympic Central
(newjerseydevils.com/olympics) will be your guide to all that happens on the ice in the Great White North.
Meanwhile, I’ll be your eyes and ears around the city and Olympic Village throughout the event. There might be a few spontaneous run-ins with celebrities, athletes and other personalities. There’s a good chance you’ll see bundles of photos and video of strange and exotic performance artists – I was told to “expect the unexpected.” I’ll take in the sights and share my experiences with you, the Devils Legion. My fingers are crossed that I can bump into Marty, Elias, Langs, Parise and Oduya at some point. (For some unexplained cosmic reason, I really want to know what’s on their iPods.) At the very least, I’ll make Chico Resch jealous with all the local cuisine I’ll be noshing on. (I’ll bring you a doggy bag, Chico!)

But I’m getting a bit ahead of myself. There’s still half-a-dozen games the Devils need to win before the Games begin. In the meantime, I’ll be sporting the red and black before I dust off the Team USA sweater.
