Ultimate Fantasy Hockey League to benefit Foundation Fighting Blindness
/ New Jersey Devils
newjerseydevils.com – Next week, the New Jersey Devils will join six other National Hockey League teams, and more than 200 fans across the country in the Ultimate Fantasy Hockey Playoffs Draft and Dinner. This year’s event will take place Monday, April 13 at Prudential Center’s restaurant. The cocktail hour is set for 6:00 PM, while the draft/dinner will get underway at 7:00 PM.
National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman and Chairman of Foundation Fighting Blindness Gordon Gund are the event’s national chairmen. Devils’ Chairman/Managing Partner Jeff Vanderbeek and co-owner Mike Gilfillan will serve as the honorary chairmen of the Newark event. Members of the Devils’ Alumni Association and broadcast teams will also be on hand. Devils/WFAN Radio play-by-play announcer Matt Loughlin will serve as emcee.
Participants and their guests will select their hockey “dream team” from players on Stanley Cup Playoff-bound NHL teams. The draft begins with a drawing to determine the order in which the players are selected. The real competition begins with the start of the 2009 NHL Playoffs.
The NHL calculates statistical reports throughout the playoffs. At the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the overall winner from the competing divisions will receive the Gund Cup – a replica of the Stanley Cup – and four tickets to the 2010 Winter Classic on New Year’s Day.
Auction items will include: An authentic Devils’ jersey, autographed by Captain Jamie Langenbrunner, a Devils’ team-autographed hockey stick, two Platinum Club tickets, a 20-person suite, and a package of four tickets and zamboni ride. All ticket prizes are for a game of the team’s choosing during the 2009-10 season.
