Hard to believe the Games are nearly upon us… Tonight’s opening ceremony christens the 21st Winter Olympics. I’ll be heading out to British Columbia early tomorrow morning for what is surely going to be a whirlwind day the second I set my feet on Canadian soil nearly seven hours later.
(Check out the travels of the Olympic torch leading up to today’s crescendo.)
Other than mindlessly thumbing through infinite games of Brick Breaker on my phone (My current top score ranked 8063115th in the world. There’s a lot of work to do.), I planned on packing some reading materials, including Chico Resch’s (with Mike Kerwick) Tales from the Devils Ice
and Who’s Better? Rangers, Islanders, Devils or Flyers
by Stan Fischler and Chico.
A little too pro-active, I’ve already read them both. It’s for the best anyway. My mind is already racing too fast to stay on track to even write this, so there’s little chance I’ll be reading anything tomorrow. By the time the puck drops on tomorrow’s Devils game in Carolina, I’ll be at Thunderbird Arena for the first live women’s hockey game I’ve ever seen: Canada vs Slovakia.
And with that, I bid you adieu. Next stop: Vancouver!
