#RELENTLESS Fan of the Game: Stephen Puntasecca

by Gordy Stillman / New Jersey Devils
Insurance agent Stephen Puntasecca was originally a season ticket member at then-Continental Arena, and paused his membership when he moved to New York. On the first Retro Night of the season, Puntasecca said the red and green jerseys remind him of the days of Scott Stevens and Ken Daneyko.

NAME: Stephen Puntasecca

AGE: 62

SECTION: I’m a Flex Member. Tonight I’m in Section 3, right behind the goalie’s net.

HOMETOWN: I currently live in Central Valley, NY, but I grew up in Hoboken and spent 20 years in Wayne.

CAREER: I am an insurance agent.

I HAVE BEEN A SEASON TICKET MEMBER FOR: Six seasons. I became a member for the 2000-01 season and after three years paused when my family and I moved to New York. I rejoined three years ago after continuing to come to games in both the Meadowlands and at Prudential Center.

I HAVE BEEN A DEVILS FAN SINCE: 1997. My nephew used to play hockey, and was a Brodeur and Elias fan. We started to go to games with him here and there. Then my son, John, started to play hockey.

YOU WOULD BE SURPRISED TO KNOW THAT: I like building things, such as furniture, and cooking. I find it a way to vent, a release. My favorite dish to prepare is Broccoli Cavatelli and chicken cutlets.

MY FAVORITE CURRENT PLAYER IS: Kyle Palmieri. He’s a Jersey Boy, and performs well for the team.

IF I COULD ASK HIM ONE THING: When and where did you start playing youth hockey?

MY FAVORITE MARTY MOMENT IS: A collection of his many saves. I can’t remember every one of them, but he was so acrobatic. Off the ice, years ago, my son was playing youth hockey at Floyd Hall and one of his sons was also playing, I think it was Anthony. He was in the stands and on a Sunday, his day off, he actually signed autographs for all the kids that were there. It amazed me.

MY FAVORITE PIECE OF DEVILS MEMORABILIA IS: After last week’s ceremony, my Martin Brodeur Jersey banner. I have them from all of the retirement ceremonies. Before last week, it would have been Scott Stevens, but he got bumped by Brodeur.

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT RETRO NIGHT: It brings back memories of the Scott Stevens and Ken Daneyko years.

I AM #RELENTLESS BECAUSE: I’ve always believed in the team. I think they’re going to go far this year, I really do.
