Team Notes

• The Devils won their preseason home-opener and improved to 1-3-0 overall.

• New Jersey out shot New York, 27-23.

• The Devils were 35/63 (55.5%) in the faceoff circle tonight.

Player Notes

Keith Kinkaid (21 saves) made his second start of the preseason and went the distance to improve to 1-1-0.

Mike Cammalleri scored the game-winning goal at 3:30 of the third period, his first of the preseason. He scored eight GWG in 2014-15, which ranked fourth (tie) in the NHL.

Joseph Blandisi scored an unassisted, shorthanded goal at 5:58 of the second period to tie the game at 1-1. He led the Ontario Hockey League with 10 SHG in 2014-15. Just over three minutes later, Blandisi received a five-minute major penalty for fighting Ben Holmstrom. He finished tenth in the OHL with 126 PIM last season.

John Moore netted his first goal of the preseason 10:50 into the second period. He also led the club in TOI at 23:56, tied for the lead with four shots on goal (Cammalleri) and was +2.

Reid Boucher, playing in his second straight game since returning from a concussion, scored at 12:10 of the third period to put New Jersey up 4-2.

Lee Stempniak picked up the lone assist on Moore's goal and now has points in back-to-back games (1g-1a-2pts). He also led all forwards with 19:07 of TOI. Stempniak is attending training camp on a PTO.

Stephen Gionta and Blake Pietila each recorded their first point of the preseason with assists on Cammalleri's game-winner.

Sergey Kalinin skated in his third game of the preseason, recorded an assist on Boucher's goal and was +2 on the night.

Jordin Tootoo collected an assist on Boucher's tally and now has 1g-1a-2pts in two games.

Travis Zajac won 14-24 (58.3%) of his faceoffs.

Seth Helgeson led New Jersey with five hits in the contest and now has 12 over the past two games.
