Mike Mottau has been suspended for two games, without pay, as a result of an incident that took place during NHL Game #280 last night against the New York Islanders, the National Hockey League announced.
Mottau was assessed a minor penalty for elbowing against Islander player Frans Nielsen at 3:22 of the third period.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Mottau will forfeit $8,198.92. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
Mottau will miss games at Tampa Bay Lightning, Nov. 23 and at Florida Panthers Nov. 26. He will be eligible to return Nov. 29 at the Pittsburgh Penguins.
