Menendez and Vanderbeek tour The Rock

by Staff Writer / New Jersey Devils
NEWARK – As the New Jersey Devils begin another playoff run, US Senator Robert Menendez was hosted by Devils owner Jeffrey Vanderbeek at the Prudential Center to discuss the importance of the arena to the community and the importance of continuing federal transit and economic development funding. Vanderbeek presented Menendez with a copy of a stylized Devils New Jersey logo signed by members of the team.

Senator Menendez said: “This is an exciting time for New Jersey sports fans, as the Devils begin another playoff run in this state-of-the-art, world-class arena. The Prudential Center can be like a power play for this area – the only thing that could make it even nicer would be the Stanley Cup. During these tough times, economic activity like that which is generated in and around the arena can help spark a recovery, which is why I’ve worked to deliver federal funds to enhance transit and development in this community. I appreciate what Jeff has done in bringing this top attraction to downtown Newark, and I look forward to continuing to work on the federal level to support economic development in this community.”
Jeffrey Vanderbeek said: "Senator Menendez has been vitally important in making sure New Jersey gets its fair share of federal funding for rail transportation. Almost half our fans come by train and I was delighted to tour the Senator around our world-class facility."
