Martin to IR, Davis returns to Lowell

by Staff Writer / New Jersey Devils – Defenseman Paul Martin has been placed on injured reserve retroactively, the Devils have announced.

Martin, who led New Jersey blueliners with 32 points in 2007-08, has missed the last four games with upper body soreness. The fifth-year rearguard has four assists in 10 games this season and leads the Devils with 25:50 of average ice time.

Forward Patrick Davis was returned to Lowell (AHL) Monday, one day after making his NHL debut in Sunday's 2-1 loss to Edmonton. Davis, the Devils' fourth choice in 2005, saw 4:30 of ice time in nine shifts. He has six points (5g-1a) in 11 games this season with New Jersey's AHL affiliate.

Matt Halischuk suffered a knee injury in a game between Lowell and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Nov. 7, and was set to have arthroscopic surgery on Monday. He is expected to miss four to six weeks.

Selected with New Jersey's fourth choice in 2007, Halischuk has eight points (5g-3a) in eight games with Lowell this season. He tied a club record with a four-goal game against Worcester on Oct. 11, and recorded an assist in his NHL debut on Oct. 29 against Toronto.
