Newark, NJ—The New Jersey Devils will be hosting their annual Jersey Hockey Fights Hunger drive starting on November 7 to benefit the New Jersey Community Food Bank. This year’s program includes the involvement of New Jersey Devils Youth Hockey and the New Jersey Avalanche youth hockey programs assisting with donations and a food drive during the November 8th game vs. the Carolina Hurricanes.
All fans attending the November 8th game are being asked to bring unopened cans or boxes of non-perishable food. Requested items include canned fish/meat, powdered milk and infant formula, boxed/canned meals, peanut butter, and canned vegetables/fruits.
Wives and girlfriends of Devils’ players will be at all entrances to assist CFB of NJ volunteers. Every fan that makes a donation that evening is eligible to win autographed Devils’ memorabilia.
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey, a member of Feeding America, distributed 28 million pounds of food in the last year to people in need in 18 of New Jersey's 21 counties. Its staff and volunteers fight hunger and poverty not only through the distribution of food and grocery products, but by education and training, and by creating new programs to meet the needs of low-income people. The CFB of NJ recently earned Charity Navigator's highest honor, a four-star rating.
