Zubrus is coming off of a 2006-07 campaign in which he recorded career highs in goals, assists and points. –  The Devils have signed free agent forward Dainius Zubrus, Devils' CEO/President/GM Lou Lamoriello announced Tuesday.

Zubrus, 29, recorded career highs last season in goals (24), assists (36), and points (60), in 79 games split between Washington and Buffalo.

"I knew that the decision [to sign with the Devils] would be a hockey decision." Zubrus said via conference call. "I want to win and that's why I wanted to come here. I believe in this team and the success they've had."

The 6-4, 225-lb. native of Lithuania played the final 19 games of the regular season with the Sabres, scoring four goals and four assists following a deadline deal that sent him to Buffalo with Timo Helbling in exchange for Jiri Novotny and a first-round selection in this year's draft.

He added eight assists in Buffalo's 2007 postseason run to the Eastern Conference final against Ottawa.

A veteran of 10 NHL seasons, Zubrus was Philadelphia's first-round pick, 15th overall, in the 1996 Entry Draft. He has 138 goals and 222 assists for 360 points in 689 career games.
