newjerseydevils.com – The Devils today signed center Fedor Fedorov to a new contract. The announcement was made by Devils’ President/CEO/General Manager Lou Lamoriello.
Fedorov, 27, returns to North America for the first time since 2005-06, after spending 2007-08 with Dynamo (Rus.). He recorded 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points and 119 penalty minutes in 49 games last season. Fedorov divided the 2006-07 campaign in Europe between Lokomotiv-2 (Rus.-3), Yaroslavl (Rus.), and Malmo (Swe.).
The 6-4, 230-lb. center appeared in three games with NY Rangers in 2005-06, while also seeing AHL action with both Hartford and Syracuse that season. Fedorov also played in 15 games with Vancouver (NHL) during the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons. He spent three seasons in the Canucks’ organization, playing in 116 contests for Manitoba (AHL). Internationally, Fedorov represented Russia at the 2005 World Championships.
The younger brother of Sergei Fedorov has also played with Port Huron (UHL), Windsor (OHL), Sudbury (OHL), and Columbia (ECHL) while in North America. Fedorov was born June 11, 1981 in Appatity, Rus. Drafted twice, he was Vancouver’s second choice, 66th overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, as well as Tampa Bay’s seventh choice, 182nd overall in 1999.
