Newark, N.J. - The New Jersey Devils are paying tribute to the first anniversary of Hurricane Sandy today when they play the Tampa Bay Lightning at Prudential Center at 7:30 PM.
In addition to the $50,000 donation made on behalf of the team’s ownership, 50% of all tickets purchased online using the code SANDY as well as through the sale of mystery pucks signed by alumni and officials who participated in April’s Global Hockey Legends game are raising money to support the cause. All funds raised will be donated to the Hurricane Sandy NJ Relief Fund, created by New Jersey First Lady Mary Pat Christie.
As well during Tuesday’s game, there will be a number of events taking place throughout the evening including:
• The donation of tickets to local first responders and emergency service personnel who have assisted in the relief efforts over the last year
• Honoring members of the community through that evening’s Hero of the Game presentation
• Naming of the night’s honorary captain who is a Devils season ticket holder affected by the Hurricane
• A special Hurricane Sandy tribute video that will be aired prior to the puck drop
