The Devils on Sunday announced they have acquired left wing Riley Boychuk from Buffalo in exchange for defenseman Henrik Tallinder.

Boychuk, 22, was Buffalo’s seventh-round choice, 208th overall, in the 2010 NHL Draft. He spent last season in the Central Hockey League, collecting eight goals and nine assists with Fort Worth.

In 2010-11, he posted a career-best 18 goals, 17 assists and 35 points with Portland (WHL). The 6-4, 217-lb. native of Abbotsford, B.C., split 2011-12 between Gwinnett (ECHL) and Rocheseter (AHL). He has one goal and four assists in 20 ECHL games and two assists in 26 AHL contests, but has yet to see NHL action.

Tallinder, 34, returns to the club that selected him 48th overall in 1997. He played in 146 games with the Devils since signing as a free agent in 2010.

He matched a career best with 82 appearances in 2010-11, recording his most productive season as a Devil with five goals and 11 assists for 16 points.
