Yesterday at Devils Development Camp, the players had the day off from the ice, but rotated in groups of three for a 90-minute workout in the gym with the strength and conditioning coaches. You know what that means? Lots of time for interviews!
In addition to Blandisi and Zacha, who were featured in yesterday's blog, I also spoke with the hero of Wednesday's 3-on-3 sudden death shootout and the Devils’ first round pick from this year's draft, Mike McLeod.
….and John Quenneville, who is looking forward to repping his Blue Jays at the Yankees vs. Red Sox game tonight!
I am a huge fan of trivia, so here's a little pop quiz for you…
True or False?
- This is Yohann Auvitu's first trip to the United States.
- Nick Lappin is an Ivy Leaguer.
- Although Josh Jacobs has one more year of eligibility with the Sarnia Sting, management still has the option to place him in the AHL this season.
If you answered true to all of the above, you're either super smart, lucky or you've visited the Devils' Youtube Channel over the past few days because there were some bonus interviews posted there from earlier in the week. If you missed them….

Yesterday afternoon, the fellas hit the racetrack at Pole Position Raceway for a little friendly competition. There were five heats of ten racers, including the coaching staff, and the top two racers (fastest lap) advanced to the championship race.
In the final race, they went fourteen laps in an actual race (not the fastest lap) with Marc Biega taking the top spot. Much to his chagrin,Quenneville was .885 seconds behind him for second. Ken Appleby took third.
In terms of the points competition the guys are participating in all week, there was a huge shift as all players in the championship race earned points with extra going to the top three. Here's how things stand as of now…
(Seney is third with 10 points)
There are still a few points up for grabs today and, of course, tomorrow during the scrimmage. (Starts at 3 p.m. at Barnabas Health Hockey House. Reserve your tickets online!
Today's focus has been about skill and technique, and I'll have more for you about that in my next blog. Tonight, the players have another team bonding event as they head to Yankees Stadium. Be sure to follow along on social media!!
